We hung out with some good friends this afternoon, and the conversation quickly turned to the death of Anthony Bourdain. One of our friends shed a few tears yesterday, and I know that I woke up thinking about what happened yesterday. Neither of us ever met Mr. Bourdain, however, like many others, we felt as though we knew the guy in some way. I grew up in a household where my mother cooked French food on a regular basis. While I was too young to appreciate it at the time, it left me with an appreciation for foods of the world. Somehow I knew that Clara and Alex would have a copy of at least one of Tony's books. I placed the book on a chair, and moved the chair next to the patio door. Natural light. It is difficult to come up with the name of someone who's death has affected so many people so profoundly. It may take a while before I can sit down and watch the 20-plus episodes of "Parts Unknown" backlogged on the dvr. This is going to take some time to digest. Thanks for reading.
