The power from Chessie train RS-97 arrives in Silver Springs, NY to work the Morton Salt plant on July 7, 1986. A D&H/Guilford train is stopped on the Southern Tier Line to get orders. At the time any Eastbounds that were going to run on the faster track #1 between Hunt and Hornell would stop at the station and get orders to do so. Chessie was near the end of operating the 4th Sub between Ashford Jct. and Rochester, and had eliminated the Leroy switcher, making the road trains perform all the on line switching.
