Peony 'Blaze' 23W22 xPeony f2- (Orville W. Fay, 1973) (2-SL-R) xPeony Hybrid Peony, Mature plant size: 32in., RED single with 2-3 rows of petals, bright red, yellow stamens, no sidebuds, early bloomer, USDA Hardiness Zone 3-8, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW22, In Garden Bed f2 for 9.6 YEARS (Wild). Planted in 2013.

 

Paeonia 'Blaze' (Fay, 1973) is scarlet red, single, lightly fragrant, midseason, 32” tall, hybrid peony. Bright red wavy petals with a gold center. A strong growing variety with sturdy plant habit. Parentage Bravura x self. Registered by David Reath. Vulcan, Michigan, June 30, 1973. Orville Fay from Northwood, Illinois introduced only 5 peonies. Four of the five remain popular: Prairie Moon, Paula Fay, Coral Fay, and Blaze.

 

2020 note: about 1/4 of the foliage tuned brown in the fall. Not healthy looking in 2021, only a couple of flowers.
