Hemerocallis 'Freds Red' WW35 Daylily F4-

Hemerocallis 'Freds Red' WW35 Daylily F4- (Murphy, 2012) Tall red Daylily , Mature plant size: 44in., Dark red star, USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW35, In Garden Bed F4 for 12 MONTHS (Murphy). Planted in 2021.

(Murphy 2012) 44" VL 7" SEV Diploid. This dark red star is named in honor of Fred Benzinger, who was a mentor to many in this area. It is out of two late Benzinger seedlings, and carries a lot of those famous Benzinger characteristics of toughness, good scapes, and carefree culture. It is somewhat old fashioned looking up close, but from a distance is one of the best reds in the garden, with yellow throat, yellow midribs, and lots of blooms. 5 branches, 34 buds, strong bud-builder, very sun-resistant, and in bloom until September. Very fertile and a good parent for very late reds.
