Summer McClain
This week’s #ResidentofEIU is none other than Summer McClain!
Summer is from Sullivan, IL and majors in Early Childhood Education with enhancement in elementary education and a minor in creative writing.
She currently serves as the treasurer of Education Scholars, the Historian of the National Residence Hall Honorary, a Debut Leader with New Student Family Programs, and she has worked as Desk Assistant at Taylor hall for the last three years, where she also lives.
Summer said living on campus has brought her opportunities to grow and has helped her find some of her best friends. She says staying in Taylor hall is one of the best choices she has made while at EIU and believes students should stay on campus whenever possible, as Eastern provides a home away from home that every student needs and deserves.
When asked about her experience here at Eastern Summer said: “EIU was my first, last, and only choice for furthering my education. Being a teacher has been my dream since I was a little kid and Eastern has provided me the resources and opportunities to excel in that dream. Whatever your dream may be, Eastern will do the same for you!“
