Mclaren-Honda MP4/4 - 1988
It's the start of the year, and Formula One teams have begun their 2024 reveals.
Shown here is the iconic 1988 Mclaren-Honda MP4/4 Formula One Racer.
Just in time too, for instagram #mocaroundgang #mocaround75 to the build theme #openwheeler
1988 marked the final year of the 'Turbo-era', car built with 1.5-litre V6 turbo engines (much like the current regulations).
The MP4/4 was powered by Honda's RA 168E engine, producing 695 PS, having previously used Porsche TAG engines. The switch to Honda power improved both performance and reliability.
Mclaren ran the red and white Marlboro livery that had featured on their cars for a number of years.
The magic was in the complete team, in that Mclaren had signed both Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, winning 15 from 16 races, 15 Pole positions.
The Mclaren MP4/4 is featured in the 2024 Lego lineup in Lego Icons form nr 10330. ALongside is a Minifig of the 1988 Driver's Champion, Ayrton Senna.
Hopefully one of many entries for this month's mocaround challenge, hosted by @paulielego and finishing up on March 16th.
