Morning Expediter Savanna, Ill.
SD40-2 #6819 leads BN train #48 under the Iris Street rainbow bridge on May 31, 1995. This train was a late evening/early morning departure out of Midway in St. Paul, and could hit the C&I in Savanna sometime around dawn.
The Iris Street bridge is now long gone. But, intermodals (now Z trains) still fly across the hogbacks of the C&I in northern Illinois.
This would have been the last rainbow bridge westbound on both the C&I and the Peavine. I think the only open one left on the C&I is Columbian Road west of Oregon. They all disappeared within a 5-10 year period.
