Oswald and the King Crab
Made for the #HeroesOfFurAndFeather event at The Brothers Brick.
Oswald was on his way back to the Crossing, but something seemed off. There was the clashing sound of a struggle coming from down the path.
Turning the bend, Oswald looked upon a great battle taking place. Creatures and monsters were everywhere, and the other adventurers were clearly struggling to hold them off.
Oswald, being a simple horticulturist, with little experience in battle, decided that maybe it was best to hide behind his shell until the whole thing just blew over. But it was not to be. A humongous crab encroached from behind, clattering its chitinous mandibles! Oswald tried to flee, but the colossal crustacean took a swipe at him- and while it was unable to take his head between its terrible claws, it stole his top hat instead!
Oswald, fueled to bravery by this brazen attack on his headwear, considered his options. He was too weak to defeat the crab by force, and too slow to run away. But, he remembered, he was a horticulturist: someone who studies the art of gardening, and he knew all about the properties of the herbs, vines, and fungi that call the forest home. Under a rocky outcropping, he saw it: a big purple and blue mushroom, clearly of the breed that has poisonous spores. Tearing out a chunk of the mushroom, he threw it at the enormous crab, releasing a cloud of spores. The crab stumbled in a dizzy confusion. Oswald grabbed his hat and put it back on his head. Then he took some more pieces of mushroom to use as weapons in the battle to come.
