rp @wearepushblack: in 1963, 200,000 people swarmed the nation's capital for the March on Washington for jobs and freedom. The monumental event organized by civil rights activist we know and love like Dr.Martin Luther King Jr., Congressman John Lewis, and A. Philip Randolph helped ignite a national awakening around systemic racism and economic injustice.
At a time when our rights are still being threatened, Black unemployment rates are at an all-time high and organizing is more challenging than ever, it's important we honor and uplift this monumental display of Black unity and those that brought it to pass. In the late congressman's words, we must "GET IN to the revolution that is sweeping this nation.. Get in and stay in the streets of every city, every village of this nation .. until true freedom comes."
