Need Approval

rp @teachfortheculture: As an educator, how are you using your voice and your platform to advocate for a more equitable and just school systems for our youth? .. How are you using your voice and your platform to advocate for the rights and needs of our black and brown students, who largely and continually experience marginalization in many of our school districts in the USA, and for whom the current educational system was NEVER designed to serve!!? -- ... I have found that in most spaces, one of the barriers to creating a more equitable system is the SILENCE of the people who are benefitting the most from our current system: namely, our non-poc colleagues and their families. .. I have also seen many instances where our poc colleagues have steered away from speaking up and advocating for justice, for (legit) reasons such as fear of repercussions and retribution, fear of not having job security, fear of being further isolated, or just straight up being tired of always having to be "the one" fighting .. we gotta let that ish go, y'all, and that means all of us ... It's the only way we are going to begin turning the corner if we want to see real change and the best outcomes for our youth! ... Our young people also need to see us using our voices, so that they may be empowered to do the same thing in schools and communities as well.
