rp @loveoffering: muted. listening, and learning.
seemed to be the same chant those who have never faced racial trauma and oppression seemed to sing.
couple days later, the chants began to dim. the noise became louder. and while some returned to their everyday life, many were left in a deep state of grief.
after being overly stimulated, i questioned every intention and inquiry that came my way. was it a marketing tactic? did they care in the first place? why are they only praying, and not doing? do they recognize the wrongdoings?
listen y’all, specifically y’all that shared your black squares. things are not back to normal.
between the pandemic and blatant racism happening, things will never be “back to how it was”
don’t wait for a movement, to do the work.
if you are truly an ally, if you are looking to truly learn, if you want justice, show up.
speak up for justice. donate. make those phone calls. vote. speak to those who aren’t getting it. allow yourself to learn. don’t just say you support all black lives. don’t just pray. hold yourself accountable, and be the change.
you exhausted... so are we. keep going anyway. - #diversityandinclusion #nashvilleteacher #antiracism #highereducation #blackhistory #ally #teachershare #blackintheivory #whitefragility #changingthenarrative #ushistory #socialstudies #historyteacher #teacherproblems
