rp @wherechangestarted: Too often, the act of purchasing antiracism educational resources is seen solely as an act of support for the content creator. It is consider to be the feel good act of solidarity and/or the act of antiracism, in and of itself. This couldn’t be more inaccurate.
When you purchase antiracism resources, you are actually investing in yourself and the future of world around you.
Antiracism is a serious field of study and work. Make no mistake about that. It requires deeper actions outside of liking squares on social media. Those actions require the development of new lenses, skills, and tools to get the job done. Those should be the takeaways from the resources you’re consuming. Not just the fact that you’re someone who bought them.
This work is not at all just about feeling like you’re a part of something bigger. It’s about active participation in the systematic dismantling of white supremacy. And one simply cannot know how to do that without investing in their lenses, skill, and tool development.
You have the ability the create the world you believe in by investing in yourself and leading others by example to do the same. You just have to accept that responsibility and take it seriously.
This work needs you in it, my friend. This work needs you to invest in yourself and the future of the world around you. - #diversityandinclusion #nashvilleteacher #antiracism #highereducation #blackhistory #ally #teachershare #blackintheivory #whitefragility #changingthenarrative #ushistory #socialstudies #historyteacher #teacherproblems
