The crisis of anti-trans violence is killing our trans siblings. Just recently @edenthedoll, @jaslenewhiterose and @joslynflawless were mercilessly attacked just for existing while trans. I praise Allah that they survived but saying “Protect Trans Women” is not enough without action.
When you hear transphobia? SHUT IT DOWN.
When you see bullying? SHUT IT DOWN.
When you can demonstrate queer affirmation? DO IT.
Why are you on this earth if not to be an active participant in making this place less terrible?!?!?!?
If you have the luxury of ignoring a crisis, you have privilege.
Didn’t give a shit about the post office? That’s privilege, too. Right now it costs 55 cents to send a letter in the USA. For our incarcerated siblings that’s a crucial lifeline when making a phone call from inside a prison can cost $15 for 15 minutes.
Check yourself when you find yourself ignoring a crisis because you can. Caring is the bare minimum. Doing something about it is the goal. Learning about it while others suffer? That too is a privilege.
