Bristol Temple Meads, 1970
Making prints for a friend Paul from his original slide collection has produced this cracker. Slide #1
What do we know? A 1970 Saturday spotting trip from Stafford to Bristol undertaken by Paul and his father, exact date unknown (but not summer looking at the clothes).
The Bath Road clock says five past three as an unidentified Western loco brings 2B96 into Temple Meads. Thanks to D864Zambesi below who confirms the working as the 14.40 Weston-Super-Mare to Bristol local service. Underneath the bridge lurks Hymek D7038.
I love the nostalgia of the photo, the locos, the cluttered platform, the geography and the human interest.
Kudos and copyright belongs to the photographer Paul Hill or more likely he tells me, his father.
