Blue Lanterns Have The Tragic Opposite of Green Lanterns' Powers
The Green Lanterns' optimistic counterparts, the Blue Lantern Corps, have a secret power hidden in their rings. While the interstellar police officers chase the universe's worst criminals around the universe, Saint Walker and his blue-hued corpsmen can heal the threats they come across in the most tear-jerking manner possible.
While the emerald light wielded by the Green Lanterns is by far the most well-known, it's but one of seven main lights that make up the mysterious cosmic force known as the Emotional Spectrum. From the intense Red Light of Rage to the passionate Violet Light of Love, the Emotional Spectrum of Green Lantern covers a wide panoply of feelings felt by sentient beings. Nestled right next to the stable, Green Light center of the Spectrum is the Blue Light of Hope that powers the Blue Lantern Corps, an organization that believes no matter what, "All will be well."
The Green Lanterns discovered their odd doppelgänger corps at the worst possible time in Green Lantern #36 by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. The Lanterns are recovering from an attack of animalistic Red Lanterns. Sensing their need for help, Saint Walker, the first Blue Lantern, arrives to assist the wounded. While Hal Jordan and the Green Lanterns are amazed and confused at the existence of multicolored Lanterns, Walker insists that he’s here to help.
