"Worth the Wait"
"Worth the Wait" After teaching another fantastic group of students in my Wallace Falls Class, I decided I was up for a big mini adventure in the park. I hiked my students back out to the parking lot, secured a campsite, repacked my backpack, and headed out to complete a 13 mile loop. I pumped out the couple miles to the falls and gave them another shot (I have shot the falls more times that I can count) and they are always spectacular! But then I realized I was behind schedule, and I really had to pick up the pace if I was going to make it for sunset. The climbing got steeper as I passed upper falls, and mad it to the ridge. Alright, less than an hour to go and 3 miles left, pick up the pace some more. I was now on flat ground and started hauling you know what, then I hiked into snow. Oh No, that was slowing my pace, making the hiking much more difficult. I slipped and slide my way along the trail trying to keep my head down and keep up the pace. I crap, I am not going to make it, hike faster. Oh No the hills are glowing, hike faster. Ok try Jogging with the pack. No Go, to much weight, Hike faster, Ok I’m passing the lake, keep up the pace. Oh No, I'm not going to make, hurry, hurry, Bam, I made it, and it’s happening, throw down the camera gear as fast as I can, shoot it, shoot it, shoot it, Pow Nailed that! That’s in the bank! Bam! Then it was gone! And I was chilling down fast, burr!, time to pack it all up super-fast and enjoy the 6 miles back to camp in an epic night hike! And after 15 years of wanting to get this shot in these conditions, I did it! And it was worth the wait! Thank you so much for looking!
