Number 1 at Niles Jct
Due to congestion around Englewood Yard, today's Sunset Limited ran "around the world" to get to the Houston Amtrak Station. Rather than the direct route to the station, the train took a circuitous route via Belt Jct in north Houston that adds a couple miles and nearly 30 minutes.
Here, the Sunset is nearly finished with its little detour as it passes Niles Jct on the Freight Main of UP's Houston Sub. The train will rejoin the Passenger Main at Chaney Jct just ahead, then #1 can shove back a mile to the Amtrak Depot.
