Heritage Garden at Toppenish Food Bank
by yakima.basin
On 11/2/24, community volunteers joined YBIP’s Benton/Franklin Conservation District's Heritage Gardens program to plant a garden using only native plants. Being native to Eastern Washington's arid shrub steppe ecosystem, these plants use far less water than grass or other non-native species. Replacing non-native landscaping with heritage gardens is one of the conservation techniques the YBIP partners employ in municipalities.
