Vaughan Through the Ages: Medicine

by cityofvaughan

This exhibit documents the approaches of 19th and 20th century Vaughan residents towards illness and disease through medical artifacts and photographs. Due to a lack of doctors during this early time period, people often had to rely on knowledge passed down over generations. However, over the course of the 20th century, the practice became more formalized, leading to greater and better trained doctors and medical personnel, new disciplines, and the wider dissemination of health information.
