1860 Tremaine Map
In addition to textual records, the City of #Vaughan Archives also holds a number of cartographic and mapping resources available to the public. This 1860 Tremaine Map of the County of York, Canada West, is a great example of one of the unique maps in the collection. In the 1850s and 1860s, George R. Tremaine, compiled large wall maps of many of the counties situated in southern Ontario. The maps identify lots, concessions, names of owners or tenants and the names of estates, which is extremely helpful for genealogical and historical property research. This map currently hangs in the Archival Office and measures 54.5” x 67.5” in size.
