2025 Wibd Symphony Trip to Spain: Toledo

On Monday, the band visited Toledo, a former capital of Spain under various rulers, including the Romans, Visigoths, and Moors. The UNESCO World Heritage site showcases a blend of Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance architectural styles. Even with the early rain and fog, the Mirador del Valle had breathtaking views of the city and the Tagus River (Iberian Peninsula’s longest river). Our wonderful guide Fernando led us through a maze of very narrow, cobbled streets to the 13th century Gothic cathedral. The city is known for Manchego cheese and marzipan, which is delightful! Toledo is a fixture in the works of Miguel de Cervantes, who wrote Don Quixote at the beginning of the 17th century. Then we boarded the bus and left central Spain for Granada.
