Denver at one time had the largest cable car netwrok in the world. Denver Tramway Co. #40 was built by the Laclede Car Co. of St. Louis in 1886 as a horse car, being converted to a cable car in 1888. This is one of the few cable cars not scrapped after Denver switched to electric streetcars in 1893. (May 2, 2019)
