New York Police Department: Highway Patrol
The elusive 2006-2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor belonging to the New York Police Department Highway Patrol Unit #3 in Queens. This is most definitely my best catch, for these are quite rare for the NYPD and many have already been retired. Best way to distinguish these cars from regular taxis are the beginning number with 2W or 6Y. Most of them are known for having disconnected or fake taxi meters, black door moldings on the side, and do not have a cage in the vehicle. The NYPD also used the gray bumpers on their undercover Crown Victoria's after the Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) stopped using them. I am unsure if the NYPD used a lot of the LWB Crown Victoria's to fit in with the TLC ones, for a friend has photos of a long wheel base one in Manhattan.
