In Front of the White House

I’m capturing interesting moments be they emotional, thought provoking, inciting, stimulating, repulsive, calming, documenting, or decisive.

For my project In Front of the White House I’m documenting political activists and people that are simply visiting – a snapshot of American life. In doing so, I’m not picking specific issues, judging people, pushing an agenda or challenging any positions. I’m simply recording behaviors that occur during my frequent visits. Generally speaking I only photograph people I speak with and who agree to be photographed. Geographically, my depth of field is Pennsylvania Ave between 15th & 17th Streets. I began shooting in August 2017.

At this time, I don’t see an end point. I completely enjoy the entire process to include meeting people, discussing issues, practicing portraiture, experimenting with lenses and technique, and experiencing life in our capital. For structure, I’ll produce a photo book annually -- Like climbing a tall mountain, occasionally you need to stop and enjoy the view.
