Air Group 302 was established March of 1944 at Kisarazu
It was an Air Defense unit assigned to the Yokosuka Naval Base for protecting the Japanese capital.
Training of the Raiden unit took place at Yokosuka and used a corner of the headquarters of the "Yokosuka Air Group" .
The unit was later transferred to Atsugi base. And later half of its force to Kyushu
