Dark Pharmacy

WEEK 43 – Covington Kroger Closing, Set 4

From that close-up shot, we’re now stepping way, way back, for a drawn-out final view of the pharmacy. Not only is this the last pic of the pharmacy that we’ll be seeing, it also may very well be the last pic of the pharmacy *ever* to have been taken with the lights on… while I’m only posting it at this point in the set, I actually took it very early on in my circuit around the store, before I actually went around the perimeter and doubled back over to the front end. After snapping this pic, I watched the lights go out inside the pharmacy, but didn’t think anything of it – only once I got closer to the counter, later on in the tour, did I realize that it had closed, and I had quite possibly watched its lights go out for the final time! Kind of a bizarre feeling to know that…

Also in this pic, two more things to note. One, which Northwest Retail pointed out in a recent comment, is how the cheapening of the décor over on this side of the store continues here in the pharmacy department – yes, it actually did get a full department sign, unlike deli and bakery; but beyond that, it’s missing literally any other décor to either side of it, when you’d think there would have been plenty of room for the stripes seen everywhere else to continue with no issues here. With this treatment, it looks like the pharmacy sign is just left floating all on its lonesome in an empty field of a single shade of tan, which is less than ideal.

And two, notice to the left of the pharmacy sign that local-made banner for the Kroger Pharmacy, reading “Thank You For Making Us #1 in Customer Service” – that’s a sad reminder that, even though very few seemed to shop here, I’m sure those people miss it :(

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
