Il Duomo and Il Campanile from Piazzale Michelangelo, Firenze
From a series of Firenze, San Gimignano and Certaldo Italian vacation shots. A view of what are probably the two most iconic buildings in Florence. Il Duomo (the Dome) and Il Campanile (the bell-tower). This was shot at long range from the marvelous viewpoint of the Piazzale Michelangelo. The aspect is a bit touristy, but what the heck, I was a tourist admiring the wonders of a favourite city. The Piazzale Michelangelo is only a short climb from the marvelous, friendly Hotel David (L'Albergo Davide) run by the Checcis, in Viale MIchelangelo, Florence. Probably the most welcoming and best value hotel we have stayed on our many visits to Florence. Check out the marvelous reviews of the Hotel David on www.tripadvisor.com, that have been posted by their grateful customers! STOP PRESS! The Hotel Davide has just been voted number #15 in Europe by Trip Advisor customers.
