P&W GP38-2 #2009 has the distinction of being the only one of Providence and Worcester's 6 GP38's built without dynamic brakes. She was part of an order made by the Rock Island Railroad, but by the time she came out of EMD's factory in La Grange, Ill the "Rock" was bankrupt. After recieving the 2006, 2007 and 2008 from EMD in 1980 the P&W decided to add the 2009 to the fleet as well in 1982.
Turn the clocks forward to 2018 and she is still hard at work bringing up the markers on the Polar Express as it heads South through Woonsocket yard. Hopefully she will continue to work in good service to the company on "home rails" for years to come.
