CW Thundercracker (TotY 2015) 2
-3rd Annual Best of List(s)-
Top 6 Toys Of The Year (2015) - Combiner Wars Leader Class Thundercracker - #5
The day I first got this figure, I actually made a text post that same night about how much I loved it. That was unfortunately deleted a while ago, but I went on to discuss how amazing this toy was (and still is) in price, and especially with what it offers at the scale that it is. I even said this may be the best seeker mold I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. And again, at the retail price that this mold is offered at, I am comfortable enough to stand by that statement even now that I’ve had plenty of time to think it over.
So I own two Masterpiece Transformers as of this post, and one of them is a seeker. My first Masterpiece Transformer was the 2013 Re-issue of Starscream. In 2013 he went on to be my #3 toy of 2013. I saved up for a while to get that one and I still have no regrets to this day over spending that much on a piece of art/technical masterpiece. But this mold offers a similar scale, and nearly accomplishes the same thing with half the heartache. Now the Masterpiece line is a technical marvel as I stated before, and The things that are accomplished in that line are nothing short of impressive....But with the kind of engineering and precision necessary to transform the figure, you may not get to enjoy both modes as much as you’d like. It is definitely a high end display piece, that can only play well in small doses...over long periods of time.
The leader class seeker mold is in no way in the same class of figure (compared to the Masterpiece line) when it comes to minute details, character accuracy to the source material, or even proper scale when going from one mode to the next. But it does offer comparable pose-ability and similarly sized seeker jet at a quarter of the price. I love this toy and in terms of the amount of moving plastic it has to offer at it’s current price point - this is the best seeker mold to date for a fun transformable seeker jet. I will definitely be picking up Skywarp and Starscream to complete the trio soon!
