Dorian Goes to the Last Friday Night School Dance

May, 1960:

This was the last Friday night school dance of the year and, frankly, Dorian was glad.

"These dances in the school gym with us St. Charles School girls and only boys from St. Benedict's Academy allowed in are just a way for parents and teachers to keep an eye on us. All we girls do is stand against the wall and wait for one of the boys to ask us to dance. I feel bad for the girls who never get asked," Dorian feels.

"At least I get to hear some of my favorite songs like Connie Stevens' 'Sixteen Reasons (Why I Love You).' That song just made it to #3 on the Billboard charts. I'm glad she's had another hit after 'Kookee, Lend Me Your Comb' since she didn't really get a chance to show that she can sing on that one."

"Well, while I'm standing here, I'll try to memorize the 'Sixteen Reasons'":

"(One) The way you hold my hand

(Two) Your laughing eyes

(Three) The way you understand

(Four) Your secret sighs

They're all part of sixteen reasons why I love you

(Five The way you comb your hair

(Six) Your freckled nose

(Seven The way you say you care

(Eight) Your crazy clothes

That's just half of sixteen reasons why I love you

(Nine) Snuggling in the car

(Ten) Your wish upon a star

(Eleven) Whispering on the phone

(Twelve) Your kiss when we're alone

(Thirteen) The way you thrill my heart

(Fourteen) Your voice so neat

(Fifteen) You say we'll never part

(Sixteen) Our love's complete

Those are all of sixteen reasons why I love you..."
