Where the Pony Express began and Jesse James ended, St. Joseph, Missouri recalls a time when the West was truly wild.

Born of the fur trade and one of the last stops before pioneers hit the roughest stretches of their journey, St. Joseph has a storied history full of outlaws including Jesse James, who finally met his demise here. It’s also been home to many heroes, like the first riders of the Pony Express. St. Joseph also played a large role in the start of the American Civil War.

Recently named the #1 Top Western Town by True West Magazine, St. Joseph helped pave the way for the expansion and development of the Wild West.

Today, St. Joseph retains its links to the past while looking toward the future. The city is home to 13 distinctive museums and over 50 listings on the National Register of Historic Places consisting of over 2000 amazing properties. You’ll also find great outdoor recreation throughout 48 parks, one-of-a-kind festivals and an arts culture unlike any other.

Proud to be named the home of the Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp. Go Chiefs!
