Jon-Mark Davey is a lifelong photographer whose journey began in high school and carried through three decades in the broadcast industry, where he honed his craft with world‑class cameras and equipment. His early work captured the rhythms of family life, but in the mid‑1990s his lens turned toward a new passion: parrots. Inspired by his first companion bird, Stanley the Quaker Parrot, Jon-Mark became both an avian anthropologist and a dedicated wildlife photographer.
Since discovering wild Quaker Parrots near his home in 1995, he has spent over 25 years documenting their lives, producing tens of thousands of images that have appeared in websites, books, magazines, and newspapers. His pioneering site, Quakerville.com, grew into a thousand‑page hub for parrot enthusiasts worldwide, fostering online communities long before social media existed. He also co‑founded two national avian associations, helping shape education and awareness around parrots in both domestic and wild contexts.
For Jon-Mark, photography is more than documentation — it’s emotion. His images don’t just tell stories; they spark connection, curiosity, and wonder. When you look at his work, he hopes you don’t just see the picture… he hopes you feel it.
