Jon‑Mark Davey

Jon‑Mark Davey has been behind the camera for most of his life, beginning in high school and continuing through a 30-year career in broadcast television, where he worked with some of the finest imaging tools available.

Professionally, Jon‑Mark served as a Vice President at Nelnet, bringing the same passion for innovation, communication, and storytelling to the business world that he brings to his photography.

What began as a way to capture family moments became something more personal in the mid-1990s, when a small green bird named Stanley—a Quaker Parrot—quietly changed the direction of his photography.

Since 1995, Jon‑Mark has documented wild Quaker Parrots, building an archive of tens of thousands of images that reveal their intelligence, personality, and everyday lives. His work has appeared in books, magazines, newspapers, and online publications. He is also the creator of Quakerville.com, one of the earliest online communities devoted to parrots, and a co-founder of two national organizations focused on avian education and awareness.

In addition to wildlife photography, Jon‑Mark photographs air shows and aviation events, drawn to the power, precision, and history of flight. Whether capturing the split-second excitement of an aerobatic maneuver, the majesty of a vintage warbird, or the quiet expression of a parrot in the wild, he looks for images that tell a story and create a lasting emotional connection.

For Jon‑Mark, photography is not about taking pictures.

It's about connection—preserving a moment, sharing a story, and creating an experience that stays with you long after you look away.
