My name is Michael and I live in Palm Springs Ca, USA. My flickr site includes snapshots and what I consider "art." My art forms are painting, drawings and photography, and I am currently focusing more on painting and drawing. I am influenced by environments where I have travelled and to which I live. I love flickr, reminds of being a kid and having pen pals.

My site also contains "favorites" of other flickt artists that have inspired me.

Artist Statement

The core of my work is material, with the central

practice based in surrender and improvisation. I come

to my studio prepared with an exploration of principles

from abstract impressionism, impressionism, street art,

and earth art.

My painting process starts with a basic plan of color

relationships, coupled with the material's chemistry. I

excavate, cover, layer, destroy, layer again- bringing

forth images. I work in oil, cold wax, sand and pigments. I'm attracted to directionality and it's many

interpretations of meaning.

My mystical relationship to the material, and

surrender to the process births a resurrection of

personal meaning, to bring the work to closure. Herein

lies to end goal to my art making.

Bio

I started art making as a child under the direction of

an artistic mother, later studying art in college. In

later years I updated my training with art courses at

Barnesdall, Los Angeles Community College Courses,

Kline Academy of Art, Los Angeles and recently

trained with Rebecca Crowell, abstract oil mixed media

artist/painting instructor. Also, I had deeply been a

self studied artist.

I am fortunate to have shown at various art happenings

and community venues in Los Angeles such as Los

Angeles Parks and Recreation, Barnesdall Park, The

Village at Ed Guold plaza, and Topanga Canyon gallery.
