Bret has freely offered guidance to me, as a novice photographer with a point and shoot Sony camera. From the first time I saw one of his photos and commented on it (it may have been in Explore), he kindly answered my silly question re his Explore poster, which I thought were stamps, without making fun of the question or me. From time to time he takes a quick look at my photostream and offers tips to improve some photos. This mentoring is much appreciated. To pass on the information and kindness, I try to mentor one of my dear friends, Ottavia99, who has also joined flickr and has to learn the ins and outs of Flickr in small "bites" I hope to pass on the knowledge, so it is a fluid process. Bret was the first friend I made on Flickr - when I was just starting out in photography and was still very uncertain. He has steadfastly continued to witness my progress, and to encourage me along the way. Bret is passionate about photography, and he loves nothing more than seeing another photographer blossom and thrive. I have seen him progress by leaps and bounds, too - his nature photos are a balm for the soul! Bret has a true talent for sincere and heartfelt compliments, and for supporting novice photographers. He makes great creative suggestions for improving your photos, too, and his photo restoration skills are an inspiration. There is always something breathtakingly beautiful or inspiringly creative happening in his photostream!

As a beginner photographer and new flickr member as of May, 2007, I hold Bret in special regard because he was one of the first to comment on my pictures, he was the first to invite me as a contact, and despite the fact I'm a novice, he continues to give me unstinting advice and encouragement. Although I know nothing of Bret beyond his flickr profile, his richly diverse photostream shows me he's a gifted photographer with the eye of a true artist, who gains inspiration from Nature, family, humanity, and the wonderfully harmonious design of the complex universe around us. being surprised nobody has written a testimonial about bret, i am honored to be the first. bret is an intuitive and talented photographer that, from what i have seen, has a lot of fun taking the amazing pictures that we get to see. He also is quick to give you praise or a kind critique to your photos. Snorkeldaddy is one of the few photographers i have seen on flickr than can capture a moment and portray it in a way thats emotional and humbling.
