First of all thank you for your interest in my work and keep coming back the best is yet to come.
I shoot pictures not people. I don't get paid for almost all of the images you will see here. I'm a self confessed image junkie, self taught. I love collecting beautiful images including ugly beauty if necessary. I have a day job so don't need payment. If you have any interesting projects around Auckland no mater how bizarre contact me and I will more then likely do it so long as it doesn't include self harm that involves bloodletting. Fake blood is OK.
I better tell you more about myself. My strongest influences have been a few books, Andy Warhol’s “A to B and back again” and Salvador Dali’s “Unspeakable confessions”. Along with George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” and Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”. Also, a French Magazine called “Photo”. The reason why is that they all gave me a view of two sides to life, one full of colour and adventure and one that was oppressive, cold and punitive. I knew what side of the fence I wanted to be on and it was the one with colour. The magazine “Photo” was a strange mix, it showed fashion photography side by side with forensic police photography, uncensored. I see beautiful and creative things everywhere I go and it drives me mad that few people are recording them from a photography perspective at a high quality level. So, over the years I have done just that as best I can. I have never analyzed to deeply the kind of photographer I am but someone once said to me that I make everything look like its a fashion shoot no matter what I am photographing. Most of my images are in the feminine spectrum, I don't find army man or corporate man that interesting, I have been described as a purist in that I do very little Photoshop work on the images even though I'm well able to do it, I would rather be clicking the camera rather then the mouse. Most of all for me is that I want to capture the wonderful world I’m traveling through, of Auckland New Zealand. This is the way I see it. Some people looking in will judge harshly what they see here but I can only feel sorry for you whoever you are in that narrow storm grey world that your boxed in to. Some may not interview me for a job I have applied for based on what they see here. But my message to you is the work I do in the artistic sense will out shine you and your grey organization for many new moons to come long after you and the company that you work for is long gone, my work will shining brightly on down the line. What people look like, what they do and who they are may not be the same and why should it be, your looking at software engineers, program managers, lawyers, police woman, artist, diamond traders, councilors, Drunks, Ex-prisoners and more when your looking at these pictures . The people I photograph are full of colour and light, without them there would be no images here.
All images are copyrighted to Peter Jennings NZ do not use them without my explicit approval first. They are not to be used commercially at all without my consent. The people in my images are free to use them for self promotion any way they wish.
I thank everyone in these images without you there would be nothing here. Auckland NZ has a incredible level of talent that can easily match anything worldwide and I would say it sets the standard in some cases. "We're what's happening" is the vibe I get from the people I work with. Support the small events in town its where the big events steal from.
Toujours Amour and keep climbing on even through the darkness.
