(Updated) I live in the UK, and as you can see from my photos I lived on a boat (for the past 10 years). I'm retired (though I seem to have so little time that I wonder where I ever found time to work. LOL).
I have practiced photography since my mid-teens when I bought my first 35mm camera - Zorki 4K and a Gnome enlarger - my bedroom smelled like a photo-lab! The joy of developing my own pictures has never left me.
Around 2003 I was suduced by the digital dark-side and analogue photography quickly atrophied; but I was always left with an analogue itch. So, after some serious thought and a protracted search on eBay I've returned to film (though, not exclusively). So far,.... Canon EOS 55e, film developing kit and a Plustek 8200i SE scanner for home processing, LR Classic, Nik Collection 6 and FilmPak 7 (as good as it is it's no substitute for real film). I will, when I find a good example, add an Olympus OM1n for nostalgia (I lost mine in a house fire in 2022).
Though I do colour (there are images that only work in colour), my preference is for black & white. "I always feel {...} color is a coating applied later on to the original truth of a black-and-white photograph. For me, color is an artifice, a cosmetic (like the kind used to paint corpses)."
