(Update 4 30/Mar/2026) I live in the UK, and as you can see from my photos I lived on a boat (for 10 years) though now I live on the land. I'm retired (though I seem to have so little time that I wonder where I ever found time to work. LOL).
I have practiced photography since my mid-teens when I bought my first 35mm camera - Zorki 4K and a Gnome enlarger - my bedroom smelled like a photo-lab! The joy of developing my own pictures has never left me.
Around 2003 I was suduced by the digital dark-side and analogue photography quickly atrophied; but I was always left with an analogue itch. So, after some serious thought and a protracted search on eBay I've returned to film (though, not exclusively). So far,.... Canon EOS 55e, film developing kit and a Plustek 8200i SE scanner for home processing, LR Classic, Nik Collection 8 and FilmPack 7 (as good as it is it's no substitute for real film). I have recently added an Olympus OM1n and an OM2n (which came with a 50mm f1.8 & a Zuiko 75-150mm f4) plus a Zuiko 28mm f2.8 (I lost mine in a house fire in 2022).
I've also started experimenting with my Zuiko OM lenses on my digital bodies - a sort of halfway-house, a bridge beteen two worlds.
I am admin for + Pictures with Words + Though I don't insist that people join before posting, in order to give the group life and variety it would be nice to see more people joining. I'm not looking for quantity, but quality. The idea of adding words is to enhance the experience by drawing attention to the idea, vision, objective of the artist; or to share techniques, methods, etc. It can be done by adding an appropriate title, poetry, pros, technical data.
Though I do quite a bit of colour (there are images that only work in colour), my preference is for black & white. "I always feel {...} color is a coating applied later on to the original truth of a black-and-white photograph. For me, color is an artifice, a cosmetic (like the kind used to paint corpses)."
