Update: October 8, 2017, was the worst day of my life. My wife, Marilyh, died in an automobile accident. She was the love of my life, my best friend, my support team, my biggest fan, and much more. We would have been married for 52 years on October 23rd. She knew the Lord, and is now with him, I will see her again.

Historian of Early Midwestern Gunsmith/Gunmakers prior to 1900. I also have a few (okay, eleven) vintage vehicles, mostly Ford/Mercury/Lincoln, but have several others also. I love history and anything antique, particularly if it is mechanical, or made of wood and/or metal.

I am the author of GUNMAKERS OF ILLINOIS, 1683-1900, Vol. I & Vol. II.

You will also notice that I have considerable interest in early photographs and photographers. I am particularly interested in early ILLINOIS photographers and backmarks. The pictures I post here are from my own collection. I enjoy sharing them with others who share my interest, but ask that you seek my permission before using them elsewhere.
