Today's lesson: Geology is Beautiful. The background mountains and foreground red rocks are made up of Jurassic-age sedimentary rock, approximately 200 million years-old. Across the center is a relatively recent, black lava flow that poured out over these ancient rock formations from Quaternary-age volcanoes that erupted only 1 to 2 thousand years-ago. - Snow Canyon State Park, Utah
