Un Vieux Clown Plongé dans les Bandes Dessinées

Here's another in my ongoing series of

portraits of the legendary

Billy Beck,

all taken in and around his

home

and delicately

sun-dapped yard

in Silverlake, California,

USA.

Monsieur Beck was a clown

at the Cirque Medrano in Paris

in the 40s and 50s, sharing the

stage with other legends, such

as Buster Keaton. In 1960 he moved

to Hollywood to work in movies and TV,

and he's played thousands of roles in

both and continues to work to this day. This

was the first time

in about 40 years

that he put on his clown makeup

and costume. Here

he's reading the funnies

from the Sunday L.A. Times.
