Zanf on San Julian

I met him down on

San Julian just east of 6th

in downtown, which is

in the sorry heart of

Skid Row, where hundreds

upon hundreds of homeless

souls come to live on

these streets, kept alive

by the chain of

missions in the area that

feed and clothe them.

Zanf had a yard-sale

of sorts going on - right

on the corner of the street-

odd items, like toilet paper

rolls, canned soup,

a flashlight, a tiny flag,

a bag of chips, a

dog-eared paperback,

all spread out on a

red plaid blanket

on the street.

On this hot day he was

dressed in many layers

with a long orange blanket

wrapped around and many

coats and necklaces

and scarves. I took several

photos of him, of which this

is my favorite.
