Brian Wilson, 11.15.2007

Here's a portrait of the

legendary Mr. Brian Wilson.

The main Beach Boy, the one

who never surfed. Who wrote

so many classic songs,

such as "God Only Knows"

and "Good Vibrations."

Taken at the party for

Henry Diltz and his new

book "California Dreaming,"

a party at which I got to take

photos and talk to many legends,

including Ringo.

Brian sat in one chair

for most of the party,

as people swooped down to

talk to him. He and I talked about

a new song he wrote with

Burt Bacharach with lyrics

by my pal Tonio K.

He said now he had

writer's block and couldn't

finish a new song. Micky Dolenz

told him to try working on

guitar and Brian said,

"But I don't play guitar!"

I mentioned that

he did play bass, and he

said, "Write a song on the

bass!"

I took several photos -

only one of which he smiled

for - he grimaced in some others

as he often does.

Then he said

"Take another" and he

smiled.

I have interviewed him twice

before, the first time when he

was still with

Elliot Landy, who has

since died. Brian laid on

a couch and spoke to me that

time.

He seems better now.

Brian.
