Doc In July

It's brutally, savagely hot

on the streets of North Hollywood.

Step on the pavement with bare feet

and they'll get broiled.

And here's Doc,

unsmiling,

sad and distressed

in these mean streets,

still searching

for his sister,

and needing to stay

ever in motion,

stepping from shadow to shadow,

beaten down

but not defeated

by the heat.
