Moroccan Henna Party Belly Dancer

Zohar Productions provided Moroccan decor, centerpieces, entertainment and lighting for a henna party held at Temple Torah in Little Neck, NY.

In Morocco and other countries throughout North Africa and the Middle East, a traditional henna ceremony is a popular Jewish tradition held several days before the wedding ceremony. After guests share a meal, henna dye is painted on each woman's palm, symbolizing fertility, good luck, and protection agaist the evil eye. Leaves of the henna plant are crushed into a dough, which, when mixed with waterm becomes a paste that will stain a person's skin orange.
