Gries am Brenner - Tirol - Austria

 

This is the Village, where I was born and raised - was a good Place to live. But today no Jobs and no Future there... since the Highway was built in the Seventies, People only drive through here and leave their Limp. In former Times a lot of Tourists visited Gries am Brenner. Many People worked for the State Railway Company ÖBB. But in the last Time, they did cut much Jobs - many People were sent in early Retirement. The Ski Lift was teared down a few Years ago - too less Business. Some had a Job as Customs Officers at the Austrian-Italian Border nearby, but they are not needed anymore. The Post Office shut down - most of the Taverns closed. The Rest of the Farmers, who are living there will be ruined by the European Union... It's a Village of old People - the Young are all going away from here.

 

A diceasing Village... sadly... maybe I go back one Day...
