Satyrium orbiculare

They are only small, mostly less than 35 cm high and hidden among the grasses but when you get closer they sure make themselves known. Satyrium orbiculare is named after its very round leaves that are held flat against the ground. These little beauties shout out their presence with the brightest fire-engine red flowers. They do seem to like each other's company so once you found one and look around you are likely to find them brightening the grass all over the place. Nyika National Park Malawi.
