Tile Tapestries
These are completed tapestries, with some of the tiles photographed individually. The assembled images were taken installed at the A.L. Swanson Gallery in Helena, MT.
The tiles began as slabs which were then impressed with stamps or fabric or left plain. The plain pieces were then approached as blank canvas to apply a "painting" or use the glazes with the purpose of texture and color. The slabs were then cut to size, holes for hanging were measured and cut, then glazes were applied. The tiles were dried very slowly for just over a week, then single fired over a 24 hour period to 2195 F degrees.
