Bay Bridge, Fuji G617

The second image in my camslam, this one taken with the 6x17 panoramic camera. I talked a bit about this in an earlier post, but I often will photograph the same composition with different cameras, playing to each camera's individual characteristics, because they will each make slightly different photos.

So some of the characteristics of the Fuji 6x17:

1) Monstrously large negative, over five inches long, means an insanely detailed image. If the Pentax produces 70+ megapixel images, this is more than twice as big.

2) The panoramic format really draws me, the world looks different stretched out into a panorama.

3) The camera has a much smaller minimum aperture, I believe it is f64 though I cannot remember for sure. This can be used for a variety of effects.

It is interesting to note that compared with the Pentax version, the star flares are much less defined, though I am sure I was using a smaller aperture. I have to imagine that this is due to the center spot ND filter that is on the front of the Fuji was diffracting a bit of the light, producing less crisp stars.
