Metlako Falls, all 100 feet of her

Alright so this photo is fairly standard, there are only so many views of this falls available, but it was not the photo I really wanted to get posted today, but rather the link to this video. A friend of mine, John, who has one of the most modest Flickr streams ever, as well as being the best wedding photographer I know personally, hands-down, is also an avid kayaker. So last week him and some buddies made the what is purportedly the first rafting descent of Eagle Creek from the High Bridge. They hauled two 120 pound rafts and four kayaks the 4.5 miles to the High Bridge then kayaked and rafted the rest of the way down, including going over Skoonichuck and Punchbowl Falls. But the part that amazed and, to some extent horrified, me was that Metlako Falls here was deemed too dangerous to raft over. So instead they pushed the rafts over the falls and jumped to the creek below. After hearing John's story I had to look up the video. Apparently one of the men had a helmet cam running and seeing the jump from first person perspective is supposed to be quite a ride, but I have not seen that video yet. Anyway, never in all my times out here had I ever envisioned jumping off this falls, and I still won't. Nonetheless, I thought it pretty impressive, (and mildly reckless) to see somebody else doing it. Oh and in my search for this video I did find another of some people who actually kayaked off of this falls. Equally crazy.

Here is the video, the highlight of which comes about halfway through.

Oh and here is the video of the kayaker going over:

And one additional photo thrown in for good measure of some canyoneers rappelling down Metlako Falls.
